Social media has encouraged the population to gain a greater access to ideas and looks. I love the fact that social media has contributed so powerfully to the fashion industry.

Who are the people from whom you take inspiration and whom do you most admire within your industry?

ER

I love Elle McPherson. She is gorgeous. Every photo is a great shot and on the catwalk she is mesmerizing. I admire her business concepts – her latest, super Elixir, which is an alkalizing drink remedy. Other models I love are quirky Mimi Elashiry and Steph Claire Smith. Both are famous on Instagram.

What do you think of today’s street fashion?

ER

I love how social media has changed and developed street fashion. I love the look because it’s sassy, chic and easy.

LM

What is your advice to young women and the way they dress?

ER

Always wear clothes that make you feel confident and follow your own rules.

LM

What influence do you think social media has had on our current fashion industry and do you think it is a positive or negative influence?

ER

Social media has encouraged the population to gain a greater access to ideas and looks. I love the fact that social media has contributed so powerfully to the fashion industry.

LM

What is your favourite social media platform?

ER

Instagram- I love it to bits!

What designers do you love in Australia? Overseas?

ER

First Base is my favourite. An Aussie brand that is edgy and basic. Total beach culture style!

I also love Nicholas for upmarket clothes – they are beautifully made and incorporate amazing fabrics, and beautiful shapes.

LM

If you could change anything about what’s trending right now, what would that be?

ER

I would say embrace it all – fashion should be about self-expression.

LM

What do you think about the prevalence of tattoos? Piercings? Do you think they had their day?

ER

No, I like them! I think they are pretty cool and are becoming much more common for younger kids.

LM

If we were speaking about fashion today, do you think we are becoming more modest or less so in our self-expression?

ER

Less modest. Especially within the youth and ever growing active wear category.

LM

Who are your favourite bloggers?

ER

I have just discovered the “It’s Now Cool” blog which I think is pretty awesome. Most blogs I follow are through Instagram.

How important is the role of a stylist?

ER

For fashion shoots they are essential – they have access to so many suppliers and can get the latest accessories and clothing. During the shoot they tend to see every little detail that needs attention and they always have great personalities probably because they love what they do!

Until next time,
